Generate some traffic.
I was thinking about ways to generate traffic, and if everyone pitches in, I think we can achieve good results.
As you can tell, there's a new "Share thread" bar at the top of threads, as well as a "Digg" button on front page posts. What this allows you to do is "submit" threads to digg, delicious, stumbleupon, and google in an attempt to generate "hype" about a particular story/thread. This is good because these services are popular among people because they rely on them to deliver good content without having to visit a bunch of websites daily. Note: You need accounts with these services to utilize submitting things to them. If enough of us submit and "digg" our threads to these sites, then more people will "stumbleupon" our site or "google" will display our site more frequently based on search queries. We may even become a "delicious" taste of content for people. So if you find a topic particularly interesting, submit it to those other sites so we can get some traffic! Another way to generate traffic is doing it the old fashioned way: Spreading the word! If you're a part of other communities, spread the word. Helpful tips to spreading the word through other communities: If you're part of the elite group: -include a link to your blog in your signature All members: -include a link to our site in your signature -include a link to your profile in your signature -include a link to an interesting topic in your signature -include a link to a topic you've started in your signature -use appropriate forums on other communities for advertising our site A lot of communities have a forum dedicated for showcasing, advertising, or just downright plugging a website. Use these forums to get the word out about our awesome community. Note: We don't condone flat out annoying people with spamming, mass emailing, or any other form of spam. People should visit our site not because they've been annoyed into doing, but because they genuinely have an interest in what we have to offer.
