Hey everyone, this post is directed towards the starting of threads
You are encouraged on a daily basis to start threads. Whatever is on your mind, share it with us. There is no requirements for starting a thread. However, we ask that you start threads such as "what are you _____ right now" and similar threads in the "same shit different day" sub-forum, as these topics don't encourage new threads, only promote existing ones. Don't be shy, we love that current threads are popular, but if you feel the need to start a new one, go for it! No need to worry about being "flamed" or looked down upon for starting a thread. Our goal if to be helpful, nice, and outgoing. We have a "no flame" policy who's purpose is to not shy away potential members as well as current ones. Helpful tips: -Got a question? be it about life, relationships, cars, technology, ANYTHING. Start a thread! -Something on your mind? Let us discuss it by starting a thread. -Need help? Start a thread. -See something on TV you want to share? Start a thread. -Someone cut you off in traffic and you are pissed? Start a thread. The more detailed your thread is, the more likely it is to get replied to. Guidelines: -When starting a thread, be as detailed as possible. Example bad)-Title: Crazy cunt -Post: This crazy cunt cut me off in traffic today, screw her. Example good)-Title: I can't stand stupid drivers -Post: Today i'm on my way to work, you know the usual commute. Well, this bitch thinking she's speedracer comes along and clearly sees my car but decides i'm not important enough to wait for, so decides to cut me off almost making me slam into the back of her shitmobile. What is it about people that make them think they're the only person on the road. You're NOT JEFF GORDON CHILL OUT! Be creative people. This is as much your community as it is mine, or any other administrator/moderator. You all take the time to come here, and I appreciate that a lot. Now let's help get our name out there among the thousands of other forums available. |

I still think there should be a section devoted to questions, something like Yahoo Answers. There should be different categories, and at the end of the day/3 days/week a best should be selected! Also, there should be a different kind of incentive, other than thanking somebody, to promote people to answer the questions. Also, there should be no discussion on these threads, just answers. If the topic wants to be discussed another thread could be created elsewhere.

Hmm, unless I'm missing something...isn't that what the "Help & Discussion" section is??
And as far as rewarding people for answering, what type of rewards are you suggesting? I think right now, since we are still pretty tight the Thanks & Reputation is a bit under appreciated. However, on larger forums, those both seem to be something that members strive to get. For example, I'm a member of a forum that has about 10,000 active members. People have links to "THANK ME IF I HELPED YOU" in their signature. Why? I don't know. Probably for the same reason people get all crazy about post counts. Stats. Better stats equate to more respect, or something like that. Anyway, I'd be interested to know what kind of rewards you guys would like, aside from thanks.

I was suggesting that it should be more like Yahoo Answers, such as a best answer should be chosen within a certain time frame, there should be featured questions, and a wide array of topics. In addition, I was suggesting it should be more based around help and less around discussion, since forums already are geared more toward discussing rather than fostering a "question and answer" environment.
Unfortunately, this is the only forum that I post on, and I am lacking "forum experience". However, I do know that on Yahoo Answers there are different levels that you are able to attain based upon your number of best answers. One way that people could be rewarded for offering their help in a area they are familiar with is being chosen as the "top contributor of the week" or something along those lines. It could even be featured on the front page...just a suggestion.

Oh, I see.
I'm not sure how well that(that being the Q & A idea) would work here. It's something to keep in mind when we, get a few more members. Also, I'm not sure how or if implementation would be as simple as it sounds. I do like the idea of a top contributor of the week, or month, or what-have-you. Maybe even someone who, for the given time period, contributed the most quality posts, or news articles, or replies.

What about a debate section? I know debate sometimes becomes a little unruly because people decide they want to belittle others for the sake of argument, but I think if members really wanted to participate it would work seamlessly.
Questions, comments, concerns!?!?!!? |

I think debating is good, and can be constructive, but those threads should just be put into run your mouth rather than having their own special section. Just imo. |

Also, to go along with my initial idea, a "community" or "group" (I forget what they're called), like for the polls, could be started. A week prior to the debate a topic could be revealed, people could choose which side they would like to be on, and prepare for the debate. At the end of the week, a winning team could be chosen based on the material presented, and how well they got their point across. |
